Liquor and Catering Permits
Non Alcoholic establishment
Are you planning on starting a cafeteria, coffeeshop, lunchroom or other non-alcoholic establishment in Bergen op Zoom? According to Dutch Alcohol and Catering law you should be at least 18 years of age to run a non-alcoholic establishment. Furthermore owners should meet social hygiene demands and be of impeccable behaviour.
You will need a permit based on the 2001 Alcohol and Catering regulation set by the municipality of Bergen op Zoom. Applications can be sent to ‘Bureau Vergunningen en Handhaving’ (Permits and Maintenance Desk) which is part of the municipality of Bergen op Zoom.
Alcoholic establishment
Are you planning on serving liquor? You should be at least 21 years of age. Furthermore owners should meet social hygiene demands (read: possess a Social Hygiene Diploma) and be of impeccable behaviour. Furthermore owners should not be in ward or deprived of parental rights.
You will need a Liquor Catering Permit. This is a catering permit as described in Dutch Liquor Catering law**.
* The Liquor Catering regulation only applies to the municipality of Bergen op Zoom.
** The Liquor Catering law is a national law that all owners of an alcoholic establishment should comply with.
Both are establishment and personal permits which means they are not transferrable.
