Particularly enterprises involved in logistics, distribution and transport are more and more attracted to West-Brabant, the western part of the province of Noord-Brabant. Bergen op Zoom is directly connected to highways, waterways and railways. This makes Bergen op Zoom an important passage between West-Brabant and mainports Rotterdam and Antwerp.
Regular to and from Antwerp and Rotterdam
In the Bergen op Zoom outer harbour a container terminal will be constructed. This terminal will be used to maintain a regular service between local industrial sites 'Theodorushaven’ and ‘Noordland’ and Antwerp and Rotterdam. Expectations are that this terminal will cause a 25-30 % reduction in road transport. This meets the targets set by the Bergen op Zoom municipality to reduce road traffic and CO2 elimination.
Preliminary a temporary terminal ('Markiezaat Container Terminal') is being constructed in the outer harbour, more specifically at the municipal wharf.
